      摘要：The Vienna Phonogrammarchiv was founded in 1899 by the former Imperial
      Academy of Sciences to systematically support the production of sound
      recordings for disciplines like social anthropology, ethnomusicology, and
      linguistics, and to keep these documents available for future research.
      Around 2000, because of the increasing use of video recording in many
      research disciplines, the scope of the archive was expanded to include video
      documents. Its central role in national research made the Phonogrammarchiv
      the Austrian Audiovisual Research Archive. The lecture describes the history
      of the Archive, its holdings, and its engagement to improve audiovisual
      preservation on an international scale.
